Zion Canyon is known for its mild winters. The temperature of the days in winter can easily reach 60°F or can even cross it, while it stays around 25° to 35° in the nights. However, it is not strange to witness the winter storms there, which bring either light snow or rain with them. The same winter storms bring heavy snowfall in the areas with higher elevations. These storms can last several consecutive days and can make the road icy. All the roads are plowed there except the Kolob Terrace road, which leads to Lava Point. This is why that road normally remains closed in winters.
